Activity Management and Collaboration Knowledge Area Introduction
- Collaboration is a buzz word for Chatter in Salesforce parlance
Creating Tasks and Marking Them as Complete
- Activity Management is a combination of several kinds of things and concepts in Salesforce. Specifically: Tasks and Events, for purposes of the exam.
- Tasks are essentially a reminder with a due date that is set up for a specific user related to a specific contact or Account.
- Tasks that are due today will then show up in the “Today’s Tasks” section of user’s home screens.
Tasks Customization
- Tasks are managed just like any other objects or records.
- Can create tasks “Related To” just about any record.
Event Management in Salesforce
- Events can be created around other objects besides Accounts and Contacts, like Tasks
- Very similar conceptuatlly to meeting invites in Outlook
- Depending on the object, the Chatter feed and Activity management areas may appear in the middle of the record or over on the right
Public Calendars
- Access Public Calendars via Setup > Quick Find > “Public” > Public calendars
- These public calendars can be shared with various users
- Users can access their own Calendars via the App Launcher
Chatter for Collaboration
- Chatter is available as its own application via: App Launcher > Salesforce Chatter
- Users can follow records, @mention other users, etc.
- Can also create Chatter posts from the Catter area on any record where chatter is enabled
- By following a record, updates to that record will show up in the Chatter feed (if those fields are set up to be tracked with “Feed Tracking”)
Chatter Feeds and Feed Tracking
- Access Feed Tracking via: Setup > Quick Find > “Feed Tracking” > Feed Tracking
- Allows you to setup which fields on each object will have changes show up in the Chatter feed
- 20 fields/object
Publisher Actions
- Publisher Actions are ways of letting users accomplish things with fewer clicks, fewer fields, and less time spent.
- These are set up on the Object Manager for the specific object
Emojis in Chatter Posts
- Users can use Emojis in Chatter posts
Chatter Groups and Seen-By Counts
- Chatter Groups are a means of collaborating with other users around a common interest.
- Create new Chatter Groups via: Salesforce Chatter > Groups tab > New
- Can post to the group via a special group email address Salesforce automatically generates
- Link with info about “Seen-By” counts
- The following counts as being seen:
- Liking, commenting, editing, viewing in detail, having it in view on the screen, scrolling past it
- Ability to view “Seen-By” counts can be turned off
Chatter Security
- Security for Chatter can be adjusted at the Profile level and using Permission Sets
Chatter Streams
- Chatter Streams are custom feeds created by combining multiple related feeds into one feed
- Can create up to 100 streams that each combine posts by up to 25 different feeds and feed types
- Can include Groups, Topics, Users, etc.
- Topics are created using hash tags like #topic
